Curious About Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing and meditation practice that supports wellness, mindfulness, and resiliency. Reiki practice allows our nervous system to down-regulate, facilitating physical, mental, and emotional healing. Reiki practice addresses you as a whole person within your life context, including what you find meaningful, your values, your aspirations, and the relevant social determinants of your health. Therefore, Reiki practice is about health promotion and health creation, broadening our view of health and the factors that support or detract from our health and well-being.
Our illness experience may include social, emotional, psychological, and spiritual dimensions that cannot be fully addressed with standard Western medicine alone. Reiki practice provides the support and stimulus for healing of body-mind-emotions-spirit. By exploring body, mind, and emotion through this safe and nourishing practice, symptoms of anxiety and depression can be reduced, pain can be alleviated, and an expansiveness of mind can nurture insight into our distress.
There are two ways to experience Reiki practice: one is to experience a Reiki treatment, and the other is to learn how to practice the system of Reiki to care for yourself and others.
Reiki practice includes meditation and contemplation practices, as well as hands-on healing to care for oneself and others. All of the Reiki teachings and practices cultivate self-development, healing, mindfulness, and resilience. Reiki can be part of an ongoing and overall healing plan for oneself that complements all other forms of care.
“The cast doesn’t heal the broken bone; it provides the physical mechanism of support that allows the bone to initiate and complete its own intelligent healing process.”--Paul Levine, PhD
Elise Brenner, PhD, Reiki Practitioner and Teacher
I am committed to wellness equity, supporting people of all ages, backgrounds, and health conditions who wish to benefit from Reiki practice for general wellness, stress reduction, and emotional healing, as well as for relief from specific physical conditions and pain.
I am a strong advocate for Reiki outreach, education, and empowerment. Brenner Reiki Healing provides individualized Reiki sessions; comprehensive training in all levels of Reiki; Reiki mind-body skills workshops to organizations, businesses and community groups; in-depth mentoring for Reiki professionals; a monthly Community Reiki Clinic for the public; and a monthly Reiki Share for Reiki practitioners.
I am currently the Reiki trainer for Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center staff and Edith Nourse Rogers Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford, MA.
A passion for me has been as founder of the non-profit Reiki educational and outreach organization, Celebration of Reiki, Inc. CoR provides credible, consistent Reiki professional development for Reiki practitioners. I am trained to Shinpiden Level in Usui Reiki Ryoho and Okuden Level in the Jikiden Reiki, and a registered Reiki Practitioner and Teacher with Shibumi International Reiki Association.
As an anthropologist, I have researched cross-cultural healing practices, thereby enriching the scope and depth of my Reiki practice. I continue as a part-time faculty member at Simmons University and Bridgewater State University.
I feel privileged to facilitate healing, resiliency, and mindfulness with the gentle, transformative practice of Reiki.
